SYNenergo: train | participate | contribute
DIRECTOR | EDITOR | 2017
For the past few months, the retirees of Athens and Thessaloniki are provided with new opportunities to get off their couch and remain active, actually having a different kind of impact within their social network, compared to when they worked.
SYNenergo, a new project funded by the charitable foundation TIMA and run by the NGO ethelon, offers new learning and volunteering opportunities to people who have reached the age of retirement in order for them to remain active and able to share their rich professional expertise, while on the same time they keep enjoying a more active role within their local community and personal network. Via the Lifelong learning pillar, SYNenergo is suggesting targeted English language classes and basic computer and social media skills acquisition while on the same time providing core information on health issues specifically related to this age. The Volunteering pillar helps older adults engage more within their local communities and offer their time and expertise in various NGOs of their interest or participate in social actions thus maximizing their social impact, feeling useful, building new friendships, living life to the fullest!
